Meet our Key Personnel!

Gidey Michael, MA, head of mathematics and educator
​Gidey is in his 10th year with Unique Minds and is responsible for development and implementation of our math programs including ACT and SAT preparation and remedial tutoring. He holds degrees in economics and accounting.
Kelvin Wilson, BA, account manager and educator
​
Kelvin is an Orton-Gillingham tutor and founder of the Unique Minds foundation. He has tutored with us for 6 years and holds a history degree. He is responsible for our keyboarding, Scientific Learning, and remedial programs. Kelvin is a Duke of Edinburgh gold award recipient.

Kathleen Hawley, BSc, program manager and scientist
​As our program manager, Kathleen is responsible for the design implementation and quality control of our in-school workshops, summer science camps and after school programs. She holds a degree in geographical biogeoscience.
Sara dos Santos, BA, tutor and educator
Sara holds a history degree and completed the TEFL program. Prior to joining Unique Minds she worked as  university teaching assistant . She also is an
experienced English as a second language teacher.

Karen Horne, BSc, scientist and educator
Karen is a graduate of Simon Fraser University and specialized in geology when completing her a degree in Earth Science.
Karen loves working with children and sharing their delight in learning new skills and science experiences.
Desiree Wilson, director
​After a career in engineering Desiree’s interest in learning differences led her to study Orton-Gillingham tutoring. It was her original tutoring business that became Unique Minds Learning Company. Today she is responsible for remedial learning and for maintaining high quality client service.

Atussa Herovi, BSc, MSc, scientist and educator
Through her international education in England and Iran, Atussa has discovered her passion for science and teaching. She has earned a great reputation for conducting wonderful science workshops.
Danielle Martel, BSc, tutor and educator
After teaching in Tanzania, China, and South Korea, Danielle joined Unique Minds Learning Company as a tutor and educator. She is a certified teacher who tutors multiple subjects and uses her French her language skills to further her reach as an educator.

​Susana Chamuagua, supply manager, tutor and educator
Susana was educated in her native El Salvador where she graduated from business college. She is responsible for organizing equipment, supplies and logistics for our science workshops. In addition, she tutors Spanish at all levels.
Vivian Hui, BSc, scientist and educator
A BC certified teacher with international teaching experience, Vivian is an important member of our team as an in-school scientist. She can speak conversational-level Mandarin and is completely fluent in Cantonese.

Riley Van Luven, BSc, tutor and educator
Riley holds a math degree from the University of British Columbia and has a passion for teaching that he wishes to continue developing. In a relatively short period of time he has shown himself to be an outstanding tutor.

Janessa Royer, BSc, multi-language scientist and educator
Janessa's degree is in biological sciences.  Her passion for science and teaching led her to our team in  2016 as an in-school scientist. She graduated from Gabrielle-Roy School and is fully fluent in French. 
​Kenneth Wilson, MBA, director
Ken Wilson is responsible for the overall direction of Unique Minds Learning Company. After a career as a risk management and insurance executive and entrepreneur, he joined Desiree in expanding Unique Minds.
